2. Clingmans Dome

Clingmans Dome is the highest point in not just Great Smoky Mountains National Park, but also in the state of Tennessee! What’s that mean for you? Well, the views are incredible! This moderately difficult paved trail leads to an observation tower where 360 degree views of the Smoky Mountains await your eyes. On clear days, you can see out farther than 100 miles, making this a favorite among all the hiking trails in Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

3. Gatlinburg Trail

Just outside of downtown Gatlinburg, you’ll find another trail that’s a favorite among families. The Gatlinburg Trail is a 3.8-mile roundtrip trek starting at the Sugarlands Visitor Center. Walk along the banks of the Little Pigeon River, seeing several historic sites along the way. The Gatlinburg Trail is one of just 2 dog-friendly trails in the entire park!

4. Abrams Falls Trail

Leave it to Cades Cove to show off some of the most stunning areas of the national park! Located along the Cades Cove Loop, this trail travels through the thick forests before arriving at the 20-foot-tall Abrams Falls waterfall. Checking in at about 5 miles roundtrip, this hike is considered to be of moderate difficulty.

5. Chimney Tops Trail

Relatively short in length but not compromising on views, the Chimney Tops Trail offers a great time for folks of all ages! At 3.3 miles roundtrip and with a moderate difficulty level, it’s a great choice for families looking to experience nature’s beauty. Climb 360 stone steps to the top of the mountain, where panoramic views of the Smokies keep you company!

6. Porters Creek Trail

Porters Creek Trail is a stunning hiking trail, particularly during the spring months when gorgeous wildflowers emerge! This roughly 4-mile roundtrip hike travels alongside the banks of Porters Creek through the woods, passing historic sites and structures on the journey. You won’t be able to get enough of the 40-foot-tall Fern Branch Falls!
